CARLE PLACE, Nassau County (PIX11) – A Nassau County ambulance medical technician walked into a Carle Place Dunkin’ Donuts just in time to save the sole employee.

According to officials, it was nearly 4 a.m. Friday morning when Nassau County AMT Joseph Biundo entered the Dunkin’ Donuts location at 200 Glen Cove Road for his morning coffee.

He just happened to be carrying his personal carbon monoxide detector.

The device suddenly lit up, and he quickly ushered everyone out of the store.

Carle Place firefighters confirmed the high carbon monoxide reading — 35 parts per million.

An investigation revealed that the leak started when an oven vent failed.

No injuries were reported.
