Manhole fire tying up traffic in Midtown

NEW YORK (PIX11) — A manhole fire is causing traffic headaches in Midtown Tuesday.

The fire on East 57th Street between Second and Third avenues sent black smoke into the air, causing several employees at an adjacent Whole Foods to report feeling lightheaded.

Employees at a nearby Whole Foods reported feeling lightheaded.

The FDNY reported slightly elevated levels of carbon monoxide in the area.

Because of the fire, 57th Street is closed between Park and Second Avenues.

No serious injuries have been reported.
