WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn (PIX11) – A manhole fire near Throop Avenue and Bartlett Street in Brooklyn caused the evacuation of a private school Tuesday.

All students of the United Talmudical Academy were evacuated and are being sheltered at several different locations in the area.  According to officials, the dismissal time will remain the same but it’s not clear whether the students will return to their regular building.

The blaze spread to the basement of the five-story building at 64 Bartlett Street, according to the FDNY.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control around 11:30 a.m., but the streets are still closed.
