BROOKLYN (PIX11) — Memorial Day drew New Yorkers to Brooklyn Bridge Park, but even though the sun was shining, the temperatures were soaring and the weather was perfect for a dip, visitors to the East River beach were told to stay out of the water.

On the Pier 4 Beach description on Brooklyn Bridge Park’s website, they welcome visitors to come “get your feet wet.”

But signs on the beach warn that there is no swimming, along with a host of other activities allowed here.

As kids swam and played in the water Monday, park security pulled up and promptly ordered everyone back to shore.
