A possible school bus strike would affect 150,000 families

NEW YORK (AP) — Authorities say a person was seriously injured Tuesday when a firecracker went off in a Brooklyn school bus.

Fire officials said 11 people were taken to hospitals for observation after the incident. Five were treated at the scene.

Department of Education spokeswoman Marge Feinberg said the bus was carrying students from the Brooklyn Dreams Charter School.

It happened at 7:22 a.m. Tuesday at Ocean Avenue and Dorchester Road.

Feinberg said the bus company reported that one or two children had set off the firecracker.
