NEW YORK (PIX11) – After a few wet days, the dryer and much warmer is finally making its way into the region.  Today was a perfect example of that progress made with plenty of sunshine and temperature climbing into the upper 70s. A few spots even made it to the low 80s.

The warmer air will continue to push towards the area for Memorial Day making it the best day out of the extended weekend. People heading out to the beach, having a BBQ or doing some type of outdoor activity have nothing to worry about—actually just one thing, the sun!

The UV index will be high so make sure you wear sunscreen. Burn time is less than 30 minutes. While Memorial Day temperatures should climb into the mid-80s the humidity values won’t. With that said it should not feel muggy at all.

Unfortunately, Tuesday is another story.  Yes the warmth does try to hold on but a backdoor cold sliding down will ignite scattered t-storms around the area making the afternoon unsettled. As the cold front continues to slide down it will also push back those warm summer-like temperatures. So on Wednesday expect temperatures to hover around 70 degrees.
