NEW YORK (PIX11)– Councilman Ras Baraka overpowered political newcomer Shavar Jeffries in an election that many viewed as a referendum on former mayor Cory Booker, now New Jersey’s junior senator, who Baraka criticized as an outsider.

Seton Hall political science professor Matthew Hale has watched the political race in Newark very closely and joins us to talk about it.
