NEW YORK (PIX11) — Drivers see it all the time, trucks going under bridges that are almost too big to fit.
A college student on Long Island spotted a truck driving on the Meadowbrook Parkway, where trucks are not allowed.
The truck slammed into an overpass, spilling debris all over the parkway.
Nabil Azad tells CNN that he pulled over to see if the driver was okay.
The driver told him that he was from North Carolina, and was using a GPS to navigate.
Police say the driver will probably face a fine between $350 to $500.
It’s not uncommon for trucks to smash into low overpasses.
In North Carolina, there’s a low railroad trestle that gets hit so often, a resident set up a camera to catch the crashes.
