Woman struck and killed on UES by school bus transporting children

UPPER EAST SIDE (PIX11) – A woman was hit and killed by a school bus on Manhattan’s Upper East Side Thursday afternoon, police said.

The woman, who has not been identified, was struck at the corner of 2nd Avenue and East 93rd Street around 3:25 p.m.

The victim may have been distracted by scratch-off lottery tickets she had with her, a source told PIX11.

EMS declared the woman dead at the scene.

Their were six children on the bus between the ages of five and 11, none were physically injured, the source said. Their parents picked them up at a local gym.

It is not yet clear which school the bus is affiliated with.

The driver tested negative for alcohol at the scene.
