NEW YORK (PIX11) — More  young women are trying to pay their college bills by taking it off.

Clubs believe the perceived influx can be attributed, in part, to the story of Belle Knox, an adult film star who recently revealed she is a student at Duke University and using money from porn to pay for her education.

Amanda Pena — known as Egypt on stage — dances at Show Palace in Queens. The 18-year-old freshman said reading about Belle Knox inspired her to try not pornography, but stripping.

“My parents don’t have much of an income, and I love to dance. I figured, ‘Hey, why not go out to the strip club?'” she said.

Pena said her mother was initially against the idea, but came around to it “when she seen the cash coming in.”

Show Palace manager Mike Diaz said he often talks with his dancers are saving money and managing their income.

“It’s become a part of popular culture, it’s in all the hip-hop videos and everything, they celebrate women like that. But you have to understand, this is the one thing these girls own from the minute that they’re born,” Diaz said.

“My goal is to get these girls through school and I want to get them through school without a debt,” he added.
