BROOKLYN, New York (PIX11) — A phony cop preyed on escorts and masseuses, threatening them to hand over cash or face being arrested, the NYPD said.
Investigators are searching for potential victims of the alleged police impersonator.
Mikhail Belik, 32, of Brooklyn, is suspected of patronizing escorts and masseuses he found on back-page ads. When he met the escorts, police said Belik would demand money in return for not arresting them for operating an unlicensed business.
He was arrested March 26 in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn. Police issued a call Wednesday for anyone who have been victimized by the suspect.
Belik has been charged with criminal impersonation of a police officer, robbery, burglary and unlawful imprisonment, authorities said.
Anyone with information in the case is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or submit their tips at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM. All calls are confidential.
