White van used to kidnap Menachem Stark found: police

Menachem Stark was abducted outside his Brooklyn office Jan. 2, 2014. His body was found days later in a trash bin.

NEW YORK (AP) — An arrest has been made in the slaying of a Brooklyn real estate developer who was abducted, killed and dumped in a trash bin.

Police said Wednesday that Kendel Felix was arrested on a murder charge in connection with the Jan. 2 abduction and slaying of Menachem Stark, a prominent member of an ultra-Orthodox Jewish sect. It’s unclear if Felix has a lawyer.

Video surveillance shows two masked men grabbing Stark at his Brooklyn office doorstep and thrusting him into a van on a snowy night. His body was found a day later miles away on Long Island.

A father of seven, Stark has been described as an honest family man eager to help his neighbors and friends. But he also was criticized for keeping some of his buildings in disrepair.

He renovated several buildings in Brooklyn but owed millions of dollars.
