Volunteers clean up parks in the Bronx in May 2014

It’s that time of year again. The weather is nicer and parks in New York City need some spring cleaning.

On Saturday May 3, 2014, the New York Restoration Project (NYRP) coordinated a project at Jerome Slope in the Bronx.

Volunteers removed debris and litter, added mulch, and took away trash.

PIX11 partnered with NYRP, the Parks Department, Partnership for Parks and the Bronx is Blooming for this project. PIX11’s Greg Mocker joined the effort along with some PIX11 viewers and a group from “G.I.V.E. (Getting Involved, Virginia Ave Efforts), Inc.

Dozens of volunteers cleaned up a section of the slope at 165th Street and Jerome Ave.

Check out the Facebook page here. Other events at other locations can be found here.

NYC Parks is sponsoring other events for “It’s My Park” Day. That information is here.
