BROOKLYN, New York (PIX11) — A 14-year-old has been arrested for allegedly shooting another teen in the foot while they waited outside a Brooklyn shoe store for the release of new Kanye West-designed Nikes, police said Monday.
The shooting happened shortly after 6 a.m. Saturday in front of a Foot Locker near Knickerbocker Avenue and Stanhope Street, NYPD said.
Crowds had been waiting overnight outside the store to be among the first to get their hands on the Nike Air Foamposite Pro “Yeezy,” a $250 pair of sneakers designed by Kanye West that was released over the weekend.
When a group of about 10 males began cutting the line, a teen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt emerged from the queue, pulled out a silver handgun and began to fire at people standing in line, police said.
A 15-year-old boy was shot in the foot. He was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No one else was hurt, police said.
The 14-year-old suspect was taken into custody about 11:30 p.m. Saturday, NYPD said. He’s been charged with assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, police said.
