MANHATTAN (PIX11) — At least five teens are being questioned Monday after allegedly going on a mugging spree near Central Park, police said.
The first attack happened about 5:15 a.m. along Fifth Avenue between 95th and 96th streets, NYPD said. That’s where a group of juveniles demanded money from a 37-year-old man then struck him in the face with a stick.
The group then mugged two women in their 40s near Fifth Avenue and 96th Street, police said. In the second attack, the teens stole an iPhone and an iPod from the victims.
Three boys – ages 12, 13 and 14 – were being questioned Monday afternoon in connection with the thefts, police said. Two other boys went to the 23rd Precinct, reportedly to check on their friends, and were also taken into custody.
No charges have been filed.
