CENTRAL PARK (PIX11) – “His knees and everything were bleeding,” said Cookie Weir. “He had shorts on and a backpack.”
Cookie Weir’s peace of mind was shattered Monday morning around 5:15 a.m. when she saw a man bleeding, and police activity near Central Park.
According to police, the suspects, range in age from 12 to 16-years-old. They first approached a 37-year-old man at 5th Avenue between 95th and 96th Street and demanded money on the Upper East Side.
They allegedly then punched the man, then took off to the Central Park reservoir where they then approached two women and demanded an iPhone and an iPod. The suspects were carrying what appeared to be a stick, and they were all together in a group, according to police.
Police were able to quickly apprehend the five in Monday’s incident.
Some near the scene, and others later because they walked into a precinct looking for their friends.
Cookie Weir will never forget the image of the bleeding man near her beloved Central Park.
According to police, all five were each charged with two counts robbery of tonight.
