ROSEVILLE, Calif. (PIX11) — Three people were hospitalized after a pet cat went bonkers and attacked a family.
The feline, named Khat, injured several people during his rampage at his Roseville, Calif. home, according to News 10.
Khat left deep gashes on the face, arms and legs of his owner’s mother, sister and 10-year-old brother.
“The cat ran and jumped on his leg and was like, attached to him,” the owner, who wished not to be identified, told the station. “He’s never been an aggressive cat, he’s never been mean, he just flipped.”
The animal control department was closed at the time of the attack, so the Roseville Fire Department handled the situation.
Firefighters threw a blanket on Khat and lured him into a cage with a metal pole.
Khat didn’t go down without a fight however. “We tried to push it into a cage, and it grabbed on to my engineer’s boot and turnout bottom and was hissing and going off,” Fire Captain Derek Carey told the station.
Carey said it was an “absolute first” for the department.
Khat is currently in the custody of the SPCA.
