NEW YORK (PIX11) — When it comes to pizza, New York City knows a thing or several about serving up a tasty slice.

It’s exactly what motivated a group of local friends to take a journey through the five boroughs to find out what makes pizza in the Big Apple so great.

With over 400 pizzerias in New York City, pizza has become an undeniable common thread in the city’s diverse culture.

Tim, Gabe, Cory, Ian and Nick also known as the New York Pizza Project wanted to celebrate all that so they scoured the five boroughs in a quest to pay homage to the New York in New York pizza and they found it’s a lot more than just cheese and sauce.
