ORANGE, N.J. (PIX11) — A children’s book author and her eight-year-old son were in a fast-moving house fire inside their Orange, New Jersey home Sunday evening.
Officials say there was no time to save 37-year-old Tanji Dewberry and her son Evan, who were both found in his room.
Neighbors say they noticed smoke coming from the home at about 11;30 p.m.
Dewberry, who was a guest on the PIX11 Morning News, wrote a children’s book titled “Oh Fiddlesticks” as a way to cope with the passing of her father and her son’s behavioral issues.
The woman, who was described by neighbors as kindhearted and loving children, worked in investor relations on Wall Street.
Essex County officials are investigating the cause of the fire, but say they do not believe it is suspicious.
