NEW YORK (AP) — Firefighters have brought under control a 3-alarm fire that tore through three attached residential homes on Staten Island.

The blaze was reported around 7:40 a.m. Friday and declared under control at 8:45 a.m.

The FDNY says it erupted at 106 Pitney Ave. and quickly spread to two other units. The three were in a row of seven attached 3-story homes.

Fire officials say three firefighters suffered minor injuries. One civilian refused medical attention.

Thirty-three fire units and about 138 firefighters responded to the scene.
