Prisoner on his way to court escapes from patrol car in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN (PIX11) — A prisoner on his way to central bookings escaped Monday evening, jumping out of the patrol car in Brooklyn.

Law enforcement officials say Darnell Thomas, 26,  jumped out of the car at Atlantic and Vanderbilt avenues in Prospect Heights on his way to criminal court.

A search is underway in the area.


Cops say Thomas was being booked on a criminal mischief charge when he escaped.

Thomas was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, a jacket with gold zippers and two gold earrings in each ear.

Six years ago, Thomas was arrested for robbery and was just released recently, cops told PIX11.

He was being booked on a criminal mischief charge at the time of his escape.
