Bronx woman dies after botched tummy tuck in the Dominican Republic

NEW YORK (PIX11) — A New York woman died after receiving a botched tummy tuck in the Dominican Republic and now, her family is demanding answers.

Beverly Brigoni of the Bronx flew to Santo Domingo on Feb. 19 for the surgery.

The 29-year-old single mom went to a clinic that her friends had recommended, the Daily News reports.

Brigoni died a day later on the operating table.

Doctors said Brigoni died of a pulmonary embolism.

“I’m still trying to understand it. I can’t really comprehend that she’s gone,” the woman’s boyfriend, Lesley Martinez, told the News.

Martinez had traveled to the Dominican  Republic.

Doctors told Brigoni’s family that she died of a pulmonary embolism.

Brigoni’s family has hired a lawyer and plans to sue to clinic.

“I can’t believe this happened to her. We want to know exactly what went wrong,” her godmother Bernadette Lamboy said.
