1 dead, 3 injured after person hit by train at New Brunswick station

NEW BRUNSWICK, New Jersey (PIX11) – One person was killed and three others were injured in a gruesome scene Tuesday at a train station in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

According to NJ Transit officials, the victim was leaning over the platform at Albany Street just before he was struck and killed by a New York-bound express train around 5 p.m.

The violent collision sent body parts flying into the crowd standing on the platform, striking four people.  Three people were taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital to be evaluated, the fourth refused medical attention.

Some 300 people were on board the train when the victim was struck.  No passengers were injured.

The identity of the victim is not known at this time.

Outbound train service is running with 15-30 minute delays.

A law enforcement investigation at the scene is ongoing.
