She was on the first floor of the building when she fell down to a sub-basement.

The child was taken to Bellevue Hospital with multiple traumas, including a broken arm.

The Elevator Unit of the Department of Buildings arrived at the scene to investigate, telling PIX11 a drop key was used and that the cab of the elevator was on the fifth floor when a girl stepped fell in. And just this past December the building was issued violations for failure to maintain the elevator which included oil spills, leaks and expired device tags.
