Suffolk county raises age for buying tobacco

Suffolk County passed a law to raise the age of purchasing tobacco to 21. (WPIX)

NEW YORK (PIX11) — You’ll soon have to 21 years old to buy tobacco products in Suffolk County.

The county just passed an age increase which applies to cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco, herbal cigarettes, rolling papers, pipes, and E-cigarettes.

The law goes into effect January 1st.

Last year, NYC passed a similar age restriction.
