NEW YORK (PIX11) — The 50th annual New York Daily News Spelling Bee at Murry Bergtraum High School Wednesday, brought out the top spellers from schools across New York City. All exceptional spellers, and all with their eyes locked on one thing – the top prize.

As the rounds progressed, unfortunately spellers did not. The competition’s level of difficulty blind sighted even the best of them.

Four hours and countless rounds later, it became a ping pong match between two fierce competitors, but like in all showdowns, there could only be one winner.

Returning champ Sai Vishudi Chandrasekhar took the crown with her winning word “zaguan.”
