Livery cab driver brutally beaten, slashed in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN (PIX11) — Cops are hunting for the man that brutally beat and slashed a livery cab driver in Brooklyn Sunday morning.

The driver, Salomon Alcantara, was dropping off the suspect in front of the Malboro Houses on West 11th Street in Gravesend when he was viciously attacked, according to the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers.

Alacantara was tken to Lutheran Medical Center, where he received multiple stitches for his injuries.

“These attacks must stop, we need stiffer penalties. Salomon was almost killed, he spent 12 hours in the hospital being stitched up and could have died,” said Fernando Mateo, a spokesman for the NYSFTD. “We must assist the detectives of the 60 precinct in making an arrest.”

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
