TARRYTOWN, Westchester County (PIX 11)– A ramp closure is getting ready to make things difficult for drivers who use the Tappan Zee Bridge.

A four year long ramp closure from South Broadway is set to begin on Monday morning.

“I think its a bad idea. Traffic is already backed up most of the time,” said commuter Dan Scannell

The ramp was closed for three days in December and it led to a nightmare traffic situation in Tarrytown according to drivers.

Officials are setting up a detour route for drivers to take and sent out thousands of notices to local residents.

The reason for the closure is so construction crews can bring equipment to begin building a new bridge next to the current structure.
