Concerns in Queens after another pedestrian is struck

QUEENS, New York (PIX 11)– A 64 year old man has died after be struck by a car on Northern Boulevard.

Kumar Ragunath was crossing the busy street at 41st Road just before 10:30 on Friday night.

Police say a dark colored Chevy Blazer traveling westbound hit the man outside of the crosswalk and fled the scene.

The victim is in critical condition at Elmhurst General Hospital.

This is just the latest accident to happen on Northern Boulevard in recent months.


Intersection of Northern Boulevard and 41st Road

A family was hit while waiting at a bus stop last month and an eight year old boy was killed while cross the street while walking to school in December.

“You have to look both ways,” says local business owner Angel Hostos. “Even if the light is in your favor, they still are speeding.”

Police are checking cars at the intersection of this latest accident as the search for the driver.
