Brooklyn Man tattoos dog

BROOKLYN (PIX11) – A Brooklyn tattoo artist is under fire from dog lovers after he tattooed his own pooch while it was passed out cold at the veterinarian’s office.

Going by the name Mistah Metro, the man posted the picture of the unconscious K-9 with a freshly-inked heart tattoo on its shoulder bearing the names “Alex” and “Mel.”  Mistah Metro wrote on his Instagram “One of the many reasons my dog is cooler than your[s]! She had her spleen removed today and the vet let me tattoo her while she was under.”

The pic was taken down after it wound up on Gothamist, and appeared under a new profile, mistahmetro7 with the caption, “Had to delete my account and make another, some people just don’t appreciate anything!  It’s an ANIMAL with a TATTOO!”

Before the Instagram pic was again deleted, it sparked a string of furious comments:  “This is disgusting,” wrote one person.  “What the f*****g hell is wrong with you?” wrote another.  “ARE YOU FOR REAL (sic)?” asked a third.

According to Gothamist, Mistah Metro works at the Red Legged Devil, which is run by Chris Torres.  Torres posted on Twitter and Instagram to distance himself from the dog photo, and claims the tattoo wasn’t done at the shop.

Torres did, however, create his own small firestorm of criticism by tweeting the following:

The ASPCA says tattoos done by veterinarians are small and painless, done for identification purposes only once they are spayed and neutered.

It is still unclear which veterinarian Mistah Metro visited, and why the tattoo session was allowed in the office.
