NEW YORK (PIX11) — An out-of-control taxi cab went flying into an eyeglass store on the east side this afternoon.

It happened at the intersection of Second Avenue and 14th Street. The cab jumped the curb, hit a newspaper box and went into the store– narrowly missing pedestrians.

The driver, who was ticketed, and the passenger, suffered minor injuries.  The department of buildings will do a check on the building’s stability.

The cab crashed into this branch of the Optyx eyeglasses chain.
