5-alarm fire rips through multifamily home in Weehawken

Flames rip through a multifamily home in Weehawken (Credit:Themendous.com)

WEEHAWKEN, N.J. (PIX11) — Firefighters are investigating what started a large 5-alarm fire in a multifamily home in Weehawken.

The fire broke out just after 9 a.m., Tuesday morning on Hackensack Plank Road in a two-story home.

All residents were evacuated safely.

American Red Cross responders were at the scene to assist five affected families.

According to NJ.com, a police officer was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but fire officials tell PIX11 that weather was not a factor.
