Texting woman survives fall in front of oncoming B train

LOWER MANHATTAN (PIX11) – A woman texting on the Broadway-Lafayette subway platform fell off and was hit by a southbound B train, becoming wedged under the first car, police said.

She was walking around on the platform around 9:57 Thursday morning when she slipped on the edge and tumbled to the tracks in front of the oncoming train.  She was pinned under the first car, according to police, but was conscious and alert when paramedics arrived.

The woman, who is in her 20s or 30s, was taken to Bellevue Hospital with a non life-threatening knee injury.

B,D,F, and M train service was disrupted as paramedics and firefighters worked to free her.
