Snowstorm timeline and totals for NYC, Long Island, New Jersey, Connecticut

The snowstorm will intensify in the next few hours. Here’s a timeline of what happens next:

·         Heaviest will be between 5 am and 10 a.m.

·         Inland areas of New Jersey and the Lower Hudson valley will remain mostly snow with sleet mixing at times

·         Snow will change to rain over eastern Long Island and the Jersey Shore by late morning

·         Snow will mix with rain in NYC around lunchtime

·         Rain will continue to mix with snow throughout the afternoon and into the evening for NYC

·         Rain will change back to snow around 6 to 7 p.m. in NYC

·         Total accumulations will be 6 to 9 inches for NYC and coastal Connecticut


·         Inland portions of New Jersey as well as the lower Hudson Valley will receive 12 to 14 inches

·         The Jersey Shore and Eastern Long Island will receive 3 to 6 inches
