NEW YORK (PIX11) – With an impending 24-hour storm set to slam the tri-state area with snow and rain, the burning question for parents and students is, will schools in New York City and the rest of the area be closed on Thursday?

Many parents were upset with the city for keeping schools open after a messy storm last week brought snow, sleet and freezing rain to the area.  The city maintained that keeping kids in school helped them stay safe, while many parents disagreed as only 66% attendance was reported.

Check the PIX11 school closings website to see if your school has been closed, or to report a closing.
