NEW YORK (PIX11) – A traffic accident involving two tractor trailers forced the Port Authority to close the upper level eastbound lanes Sunday.

The vehicles collided around 11:40 a.m., spilling diesel onto the roadway.  The upper levels have since been cleared, but traffic is still backed up.

Officials are asking drivers to use the lower level of the bridge, and are reporting delays of up to 90 minutes for those already trapped in the upper-level traffic.

Traffic is running smoothly westbound on the upper and lower levels.
