4-alarm fire on Long Island causes LIRR to suspend Oyster Bay branch

ALBERTSON, Long Island (PIX11) – A large house fire on Long Island has caused the suspension of the LIRR’s Oyster Bay branch and knocked out power to more than a thousand customers.

The fire started in a large, 3-story residential building at 154 Willets Rd. in the hamlet of Albertson.

Firefighters were forced to run hoses across the tracks while fighting the blaze after multiple departments responded to the scene.

In order to position ladders, firefighters had to cut power to more than 1200 customers.

Buses transported LIRR riders between East Williston and Locust Stations.

It is unclear how the blaze began.

No injuries were reported.
