CHICAGO (PIX11) — A Chicago family grieving the loss of their 17-year-old daughter received a shocking letter from OfficeMax last week.

The letter was addressed to “Mike Seay, Daughter Killed in Car Crash.”

Seay’s daughter Ashley was killed in a car crash with her boyfriend last year and OfficeMax somehow knew.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Seay said he’s not a big OfficeMax customer and would have never mentioned the crash there.

OfficeMax released a statement saying the mailing “is a result of a mailing list rented through a third-party provider” and offered apologies to Seay.

The company said they are investigating what happened.
