Long Island man arrested in December fatal home invasion

EASTPORT, N.Y. (AP/PIX11) — Authorities have arrested a Long Island man on murder charges in connection to the death of a man last month in a home invasion.

Suffolk County police arrested 22-year-old Paul Batterson Jr., of East Moriches Saturday night.

Police say that on Dec. 8 at about 3 a.m., he and another masked suspect entered the home in Eastport and announced a robbery.

Forty-five-year-old Francisco Pirir died of his wounds.

The other resident was shot in the hand.

Batterson has been charged with second-degree murder.

Police are still looking for the second suspect.
