LOS ANGELES (PIX11) – A Los Angeles man is facing animal cruelty charges after dragging a puppy down the street, causing injuries so severe they required surgery, according to officials.
Dossey James, 28, faces two counts of felony animal cruelty after he was recorded dragging the young dog because it refused to walk, according to an LAPD press release. The dog was injured so badly it left a bloody trail on the pavement, and needed surgery for extensive cuts and scrapes to its belly and legs.
The dog is now in the care of the South L.A. Animal Shelter, where it is recovering.
James is being held on $145,000 bail.
