NEW YORK (PIX11) – Ashlee Dobson can’t believe her son 4-year-old Myls is gone, or that the awful reports of his tortured life. The child’s caregiver — 27-year-old Kryzie King was charged Friday with assault, reckless endangerment, unlawful imprisonment, and endangering the welfare of a child.
“I’ll just remember the good times we had that’s all,” said King.
King allegedly admitted to detectives that she beat the child with a belt on a number of occasions, and left him outside to freeze in the cold.
The boy’s father, sources said, left the child in her care when he went to serve time in December.
“I just want best for my son,” said Dobbs.
King told authorities the boy had fallen off the bathroom sink Wednesday morning, when she was in the another room, sources told PIX11 News. King called 911 and officers came to the house around 10:51 a.m., but Dobbs was found unconscious and unresponsive; he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
On Friday, court papers said in the days leading up to his death, King allegedly burned the little boy and starved him.
Community activist Tony Herbert said Dobson’s mother was in the process of trying to get back custody of her son when he died.
“This woman had a financial situation that did not work out,” Herbert said. “She was not able to take care of her child at the time.”
Dobson says now she wants justice for her son, whose big smile she remembers so well.
Prosecutors said depending on the Medical Examiner’s report, charges could be upgraded to murder.
