BAY SHORE, N.Y. (AP/PIX11) — Police say they’ve arrested a Long Island couple in connection with a series of armed robberies of nail salons across Suffolk County.

Salvatore Scimeca, 55, and Elise Sandberg, 34, were arrested Wednesday for the alleged robberies in Islip, Islip Terrace, East Islip and Copiague.

The Islip Terrace pair were charged with four counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery.

Police say they are also suspected of five similar armed robberies in neighboring towns in Nassau County between Dec. 23-30.

They say the last robbery was on New Year’s Eve at Copiague’s Nail Plaza.

Authorities report during robberies, the pair would hit salons later in the day to maximize profits.

Scimeca would cover his face with a mask or bandana and brandished a black handgun.

Scimeca would demand ,”This is a robbery. Open the register.” There were no injuries during any of the robberies.
