Still-married Eliot Spitzer said to be ‘sneaking around’ with de Blasio aide

It was revealed in December that Smith was dating Spitzer.

NEW YORK (PIX11) – Lis Smith, former Governor Eliot Spitzer’s new girlfriend, won’t be working with Mayor Bill de Blasio’s camp at City Hall in 2014.

31-year-old Smith, who worked on Spitzer’s failed run for New York City comptroller, worked as a spokeswoman during de Blasio’s campaign for mayor and during his transition after his victory. Reports outed her as the former Love Guv’s new flame last month. Shortly after, Spitzer and his wife Silda announced that their marriage was over.

“Lis was contracted to work with our team throughout the transition. She did exemplary work and we are grateful for the support she provided,”  a de Blasio staffer told the Daily News Friday. “Now that the transition is concluding, she is returning to her work as a politican consultant,” said Santucci.”

De Blasio dodged questions about Smith and Spitzer’s relationship, saying he respects Smith’s right to privacy.

Smith formally worked as a director of President Obama’s “Rapid Reponse” campaign and works as a democratic consultant.

Friday, Smith sent out a tweet from a sunny, tropical locale, saying, “Happy New Year. Here’s to spending 2014 with the person (or ppl) you love.”
