NEW YORK (PIX 11) – Two New Jersey police officers have found themselves without jobs thanks to their work as Air Force reserves.

Officers Hector Cartegena and Mike McCraken have served in the reserves while working for the Bloomfield Police Department.

Despite doing double-duty for years the department has recently charged the pair with stealing time from the town.

Bloomfield PD Internal Affairs is looking into time cards over the last six years to see when the pair were traveling to their base and if they claimed to be working.

Their attorney says the town is trying to enforce a military leave policy that never existed before.
