(PIX11) — It was supposed to be a holiday choir concert for Kings Park 5th graders on Long Island.

But it turned into a big controversy after several changes were made to the song “Silent Night.”

The concert took place last week at Ralph J. Osgood intermediate school on Long Island.

The principal and choir director removed the most significant religious lines to avoid offending non-Christians.

After backlash from parents, the district has now apologized for any disrespect it caused.
