City Council votes in e-cigarette, plastic foam food container bans

NEW YORK (PIX11) – The New York City Council voted Thursday night to ban electronic cigarettes 43-8.

The ban would prohibit e-cigarettes anywhere where smoking is currently not allowed, including indoors locations.

Thanks to Thursday’s decision, e-cigarettes will not be permitted in one of the favorite locales of many who partake — inside of bars and restaurants.

The City Council also voted to ban the use of plastic foam food containers, unless a recycling test shows they can be broken down.
