NEW YORK (PIX11) – The official word from the New York City Department of sanitation is this will be a spreader event, so the city’s 365 salt spreaders have been loaded and are already out on the streets.

But since only an inch is expected in the city, plowing isn’t anticipated.

The steps on many of the city’s 400 subway stations have already been sanded and salted.

Only a few customers were inside Home Depot buying bags of salt.

For the most part, only those who live in the suburbs or are on four legs were looking forward to this snow event.
