NEW YORK (PIX11) – Budget problems have caused the publishers of “New York” magazine to cut it back to a biweekly magazine.

Since its inception in 1968, the magazine has come out every week. It popularized writers including Tom Wolfe, Jimmy Breslin, Gloria Steinam and Nora Ephron. But starting in March, each new issue will come out every other week.

They plan to publish 26 times per year with three additional special issues: the best doctors, the annual gift guide and a food and drink issue.
