NEW YORK (PIX11) – Call it a Thanksgiving bonus for nearly 200 New York police officers.

All were promoted Tuesday, bumped up in various ranks during two different ceremonies.

At one of ceremonies, Officer Larry “boots” DePrimo got a foot into a bigger door.

The 26-year-old cop became an overnight Internet sensation a year ago.

He bought a barefoot homeless man a pair of boots, in Times Square.

A tourist saw the act of kindness and snapped a photo.

Today DePrimo was given a merit promotion to detective.

DePrimo has been on the force for three years.
