New website lists nutrition info for NYC chain restaurants

(PIX11) — New York City Health Commissioner Thomas Farley announced Thursday, “MenuStat” a website that will list nutrition facts for 66 popular chain restaurants.

Dr. Farley spoke about his new project at the Obesity Society’s annual meeting in Atlanta.

mcdsHe described the site for being easy-to-use for researchers, health organizations, and consumers alike.

The website allows users to search by kinds of foods (burgers, soups, salads, etc.) and by restaurant name.

MenuStat manually collects nutritional information from chains with the largest sale volume in the US from January of each year, and plans to augment their nutritional data.

The website is funded through the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
